Orange Roofing & Home Improvement
Old Towne plaza Craftsmans to East Orange hillsides — we work the full city, including the historic district reviews.
Roofing in Orange — From Locals Who Know the Area
Orange has one of the best-preserved historic downtowns in California — the Old Towne Plaza District is on the National Register and contains thousands of Craftsman, Victorian, Spanish revival, and California bungalow homes from 1888 to 1940. Just blocks away, post-war Orange is full of 1950s–60s tract homes, and East Orange (toward the foothills) has 1980s+ hillside Mediterraneans. We work all three. The historic district has its own review process — we know it. The post-war market is straightforward. East Orange means hillside access and HOAs.
We've completed multiple Old Towne historic district roofs and know the Mills Act and historic review process. We work the post-war market fairly. East Orange hillside HOAs and wind-uplift requirements are standard for us.

Orange Weather & Roof Wear
Inland heat in summer (often 5°F warmer than coastal OC). Santa Ana wind exposure, especially in East Orange near the foothills. Lower humidity than coastal cities — less corrosion concern, more UV-driven asphalt aging.
Common Orange Architecture
Three zones. Old Towne: 1888–1940 Craftsman, Victorian, Spanish revival, bungalow — National Register protected. Central Orange: 1950s–60s post-war tracts. East Orange (Orange Park Acres, Anaheim Hills boundary): 1980s+ hillside estates, mostly concrete tile, HOA-governed.

Orange Roofing Questions
Can I re-roof a home in the Old Towne Orange Historic District?
Yes. Like-for-like material replacement is generally fine; significant changes require historic review. Mills Act participants have stricter material requirements. We work with the city's historic preservation staff on every Old Towne project — we've done it many times.
What roofing materials are appropriate for an Old Towne Craftsman?
Period-appropriate materials are composition shingle in heritage colors (charcoal, weathered wood, slate gray) for most Craftsmans. Original wood shake is sometimes restored with synthetic shake. We've used both. The key is the right color and profile to read correctly from the street.
Does East Orange require special wind-uplift install?
Yes for hillside lots near the foothills. Santa Ana winds at the foothill edge regularly hit 60+ mph and standard fastening will fail. We use enhanced fastening (every course nailed, foam adhesive on perimeter) standard in East Orange.
Hablamos español?
